WASTE DISPOSAL

Waste refers to materials that are no longer needed. These materials are mostly as result of human activities . Waste disposal is the way in which we get rid off those materials

Types of waste
Waste can be classified according to its state, i.e solid, liquid or gas

a. Solid waste
Examples is household garbage, mining waste, plastic, paper, glass and construction waste

b. Liquid waste.
Example is urine, water from bathroom and kitchens and chemical from industry.

c. Gaseous waste
Example is ammonia and sulphurdioxide gas from industry and lead from petrol in motor vehicle

Table which source and types of waste

They can be decomposed by   bacteria and other living organism. For example of such waste are food remain, woods, paper and cotton clothes.
Biohazardous waste can transmit infection and disease this term is commonly used to refer to medical waste.

Waste disposal
Waste disposal refers to collections, transportation, processing, re-use and other activities that help us to get rid of waste
This helps us to reduce adverse effects of waste on human health and the environment.

Basic principles of waste disposal
There are three basic principle of waste disposal that can help us to better manage our waste. These are:

1. Reducing: Reducing the amount of waste we produce for example we do nnot have buy plastic bags each time we go shopping, we can carry a woven basket instead.

2. Re-using: Re-using items instead of throwing them away. For instance we can use an empty margarine container to store sugar.

3. Recycling: Recycling waste items, some waste can be changed to other product example broken glass can be melted and use to make new glass bottle
